Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is set to return in a rugged, desi avatar with the upcoming Netflix film Kartavya. Known for winning praise whenever he takes on rooted and rustic characters, the actor is once again gearing up to impress audiences with an intense performance.
The recently released trailer of Kartavya showcases Saif in a police uniform, portraying a conflicted cop caught between duty and conscience. Fans were quick to applaud his commanding screen presence, while many also appreciated his convincing Haryanvi dialect, saying it adds authenticity and emotional depth to the character.
Speaking about preparing for the role, Saif admitted that mastering the accent was one of the most challenging aspects of the film.
“Getting the dialect right was probably the trickiest part because it is not just about learning lines, it is about understanding the culture and the nuances behind the words. Every accent carries a certain identity and honesty and that was important for me to capture,” he shared.
The actor further revealed that the process demanded patience and continuous practice.
“It definitely took time and a lot of practice. I kept reading, listening, repeating lines constantly and slowly it started feeling more natural. I still feel like there is always room to improve but Pulkit was very happy with where we reached. Honestly, with enough practice, accents become much easier and I think I can pull off a fairly convincing Haryanvi accent now,” Saif added.
Apart from Kartavya, Saif Ali Khan has an exciting lineup ahead. The actor will next be seen in Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. He is also preparing for his return to the OTT space with the series Hum Hindustani.
