Ubisoft Announces Major Update Ahead of Story Expansion
Ubisoft has confirmed that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive a free update on December 5, introducing a third-person mode and the much-awaited New Game+ feature. The announcement was made via a new trailer showcasing the game’s combat in both first- and third-person perspectives. The update will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players.
Major Gameplay Enhancements
Developer Massive Entertainment has revamped the game’s animations, controls, camera, and audio systems to support seamless third-person gameplay. Players will be able to switch between first- and third-person views at any time—whether exploring the lush world of Pandora or engaging in combat.
New Game+ and Difficulty Additions
The update also introduces a New Game+ mode, allowing players to replay the main story while retaining all unlocked skills and gear. To add to the challenge, enemies will be tougher, and players can access a new skill tree and stronger weapons and armor.
‘From the Ashes’ Expansion Coming December 19
Following the free update, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive a major story expansion titled From the Ashes on December 19. Inspired by the upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash, the DLC will continue the story of Pandora and is already available for pre-order on all major platforms.
A Look Back at Pandora’s Journey
Originally released on December 7, 2023, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora immerses players in the world of the Na’vi through a rich open-world experience. Since launch, the game has added two story expansions — The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires — alongside multiple updates improving combat, performance, and adding a 40 FPS mode for smoother gameplay.
