A vibrant cultural evening celebrating the richness of Punjabi folk traditions unfolded in the national capital with Gallan te Geet, bringing together music, storytelling, and shared memories under one roof. The event created an immersive atmosphere where audiences experienced the essence of Punjab’s cultural heritage through a seamless blend of folk songs and oral narratives.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Meenakshi Lekhi added significance to the evening, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting traditional art forms in contemporary times.

Held at the CD Deshmukh Auditorium, the programme drew an enthusiastic audience, filling the space with warmth and collective nostalgia. The performances evoked memories of Punjab’s vibrant cultural past, fostering a deep sense of connection and community among attendees.

The evening featured soulful narration by Ruby D Singh, weaving stories that beautifully complemented the musical journey. Vocals were led by Vibha Chawla, trained in the classical gayaki style of the Patiala Gharana and inspired by her grandmother’s Ludhiana legacy. She was accompanied by Siraj on instrument, whose melodies evoked the tonal depth of traditional Punjabi sounds.

The presentation carried the festive spirit of Baisakhi diyaan vadhaiyaan—a celebration of joy, harvest, and vibrant colours—bringing alive the cultural essence of Punjab.

The evening was supported by the Vishnu Lal Memorial Trust. The ceremonial lamp lighting was led by Trustee Mrs. Manju Vishnu Lal along with distinguished guests including Ger Bau Shan and Raman Chadda from the Finance Committee of IIC.

Gallan te Geet successfully created a meaningful space for audiences to reconnect with traditional Punjabi art forms. Through its thoughtful curation, the evening not only celebrated music and storytelling but also reinforced the enduring spirit of togetherness that lies at the heart of Punjabi culture.
